ComputinganditsapplicationshavealwaysfascinatedmeandforthisreasonIhavefoundmyA-levelcoursesextremelyinteresting.Thisalsohasmaintainedmylong-terminterestincomputer-relatedcareers.

Ihavestudiedmathematics,physicsandcomputingtoA-levelandalsoduringthefirstyearatHillsRoadSixthFormCollegeIre-tookmyGCSEEnglish.LastyearandthisyearIhavebeenimprovingmyself-learning,anddevelopingmanyskillswiththehelpofthekeyskillsqualificationsandA-levelGeneralStudies.

Mysincerestdesireistobecomeacomputerscientist.Specifically,Iaminterestedinexploringhowproblemscanbemodeledandsolvedusingartificialintelligence.Ialsowanttolearnabouthumancognitionandmachineintelligence.Ihavebeenstudyingtheonlinedebateoverwhethermachineswilleverbecome"intelligent"giventhecurrentcourseofresearchandreadingaboutsuchissuesaswhetheramachinecanacquire"commonsense"(asdiscussedinHubertDreyfus'sbook“WhatComputersStillCan'tDo”).Ihavebeenexploringmanydifferentareaswithinthedomainofartificialintelligence(suchasneuralnetworks,geneticalgorithms,andnaturallanguageprocessing).ThebottomlineisthatIwanttobeapartofthisexcitingfield.

OverthesummerItraveledtoRussia,andthoroughlyenjoyedexploringaverydifferentpartoftheworld.

Myotherinterestsincludecurrentaffairsandsports,suchasfootball,tennisandgeneralfitness.EversincethestartofsixthformIhavebeenasuccessfulmemberofthecollegefootballteam.Ihaveplayedbasketballasanenrichmentactivitybecauseitwasanewsporttomeatthebeginningofsixthform.Ialsoparticipatedina5-a-sideindoorfootballtournamentatthecollege.InadditiontopursuingmyacademicstudiesIwouldliketocontinuesomeofthesesportsatuniversity.
