Myupbringinghashonedmyperceptionofsocietyandpeopleleadingmetobeacutelyawareofsocialinjustice,inequality,exploitation,discrimination,andreligiousfundamentalism,especiallyinasocietysuchastheoneIcomefrom-Bangladesh.Ipossessadesire,tostruggleifnecessarythroughmylifeinestablishingasocietywhichwillbefreefromexploitationandinequality.Assuch,IhavechosentostudyLaw,forIbelievetheproperimplementationofLawistheonlypotentweapontoobliterateinjustice.Ibelievethroughoutthehistoryoftheworld,workingclasseshavebeendeceivedbytheupperclassbourgeoisieandtheelites-myultimategoalinlifeistoestablishtherightsofthesociallydeprivedclasses.IalwayshavewonderedwhyLawhasnotbeenusedtoraisethevoiceoftheworkingclass,andwhyithasbeenusedtosafeguardtheinterestsofpeoplewhoareexploiting.Iseekanewdefinitionofhumanrights–thetruedefinition,withoutexploitationandcorruptioncolouringthenotion.Mygreatestwonderiswhyoursocietyandthelegalsystem,donotpointouteconomicexploitationasanabuseofhumanrights;foritistherootofpoverty,whichelicitscrime.IfthecreationofLawistocurbinjustice,whyhasitnotbeenusedtoeradicatethisinjustice?Takinglawasasubjectforhighereducationwillhopefullyhelpmefindanswerstomyquestions,andwillteachmethepropermethodofimplementation.

Iamsomeonewhoispassionatetoevaluateproblems.IamnotanextremistbutIdonothesitatetoresorttoradicalmeasuresifthesituationforcesit.Ibelieve,inasociety,co-operationismoredesiredthancompetition;competitiondoesn’tnecessarilybringrapidprosperity.Iadheretoasocialisticpoliticalideology,andaimtodevotemyselfinestablishingtruesocialism.Iamfromacountry,whichhasbeensubjecttomilitarydictatorshipforovertwentyyearsafterherindependence.Mypoliticalconsciousnessgrewduringthetime,whenmyfatherwasimprisonedbythemilitaryjustbecausehewasaleaderofapoliticalpartywhoopposedmilitaryregime.Policeandmilitaryjointlyranabrutalcampaignthroughoutthecountrytorepresspoliticians,wheretheyimprisonedandsometimeskilledthousandsofstudents,politicians,professionals,workers,andevensoldiers.Theseincidentsseverelyaffectedmyfamily,makingmychildhoodaturbulenttime.Afterthemilitaryregimefailed,awesternstyledemocraticpoliticalstructurewassetup,whichgavenothing,yetincreasedthediscontentofthemasses,andcreatedsomeelites,whovirtuallycontrolthecountry.Wealthandpowerbotharecentralizedtothem,lawisapuppetintheirhand,andtheycontroleverything,fromeconomytopolitics.Millionsofpeoplelivebelowthepovertylevel,andthereisnobody,notonestrongandresilientpoliticalpartytorepresentthem.Extremeformofcapitalismhastakenoverourcountry’ssocialandhumanvalues,andmoralityisatthebrinkofextinction.Corruptioniseverywhere,humanrightsabusesareinnumerable,politicalrepressionisparamount,moneyispowerandpoweriseverything.ThisindisciplinedviolentconditionofmycountrycreatedarebelliousnaturewithinmethatiswhyIhavesetmyambitiontorestructurethesocio-politicalstructureofmycountryinaradicalway.IwouldliketoutilizetheknowledgeIacquirefrommylifeatuniversityandbeyondtoclarifyandshowmetheproperwayofimplementationofmythoughts.

Ihaveprovedmyselfasanefficientandresponsiblestudentthroughprimaryandsecondaryschool,Ihavebeenabletomaintainandimprovemygrades,whichareconsistentlygood.CurrentlyIamundertakingA’levelsinHistory,Government&Politics,andBengali.Beinganambitiousandinquisitiveperson,evenaftercompletingaFoundationProgrammewithanoverallAgrade,IhavechosentodothreeA’levelsinoneyeartostudyinoneofthetopBritishuniversities.Historyhasalwaysfascinatedme;thoughthisisthefirsttimeIamstudyingthissubjectindetail.InGovernment&Politics,Iamlearningabouttheproceduresoflawmakingandthesystemofpoliticsandgovernmentindifferentcountries.Languageshavealwaysbeenofinteresttome,andmyfavouredloyaltyistomymothertongue-Bengali.

Ihavespentmytimeproductivelyonextracurricularactivities.Ihavekeenlytakenpartindebating,studentpoliticsandactingintelevisiondramas.Iheadedmyschool’sdebatingsocietyforoneyearandindependentlyachievedmanyprizesinspeechcompetitionsatlocalandnationallevels.Myhobbiesincludereading,playingcricketandtabletennis,webbrowsing,etc.

TheprincipalreasonformydesiretostudyatUKisthequalityofteachinghereandparticularlyinmychosensubject,Law.Ialsofindexcitingtheprospectofjoiningauniversityheewithinternationalflavoursandexceptionalresearchfacilities.IbelieveUniversityisaplaceforaccumulatingmoreinterests,formeetingpeople,forworkinghard,forfindinganicheinlife.IfeelIhavethecommitmentandconfidenceofgivingmybestduringmyuniversitycareerandafterwards
